The Face
I always remember the first Art Director I ever worked with, Mia Daminato, from the ELLE days in Sydney. She was such a talented, inspired person and was always in trouble from the higher powers at Pacific Magazines for "wasting space" on pages. It's so upsetting really, when you look at something as beautiful as the below from The Face in March 2003. Hard to do it justice when I can't publish this in double pages, but this clean, wasted space is a testament to good art direction and photography. Photographed by Solve Sundbo and I think Craig Tilford may have art directed The Face at this time.... You can find good art direction like this in self-published magazines these days, but unfortunately The Face magazine no longer exists.

Pink Saris
Pink saris are worn by the Gulabi Gang, a group of female vigilantes in northern India - from the 'untouchable caste' - who have resisted being condescended to as the lowest social class. Filmmaker Kim Longinotto's Pink Saris celebrates Sampat Pal, a woman fighting social injustice against women in northern India.
